A Trip with RWTH-Rector Delegation to China

By the end of September, our director Prof. Sigrid Brell-Cokcan and researcher Rushi Dai have participated in a trip to China together with the RWTH-Rector delegation.

This delegation has visited Tsinghua University in Beijing and the Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School (SIGS) in Shenzhen to talk about the future collaboration between RWTH Aachen and Tsinghua University. The rector, Prof. Ulrich Rüdiger from RWTH Aachen and the chairman, Prof. Xu Chen from Tsinghua University has signed the Letter of Intent in the meeting to continue the collaboration in the coming years.

During the trip, Prof. Sigrid Brell-Cokcan was invited to make talks in both University of Science and Technology Beijing and Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School to promote our new international master - M.Sc. Construction and Robotics.

UHPAM - Seed Fund

We are pleased to announce our new Seed Fund project UHPAM - Ultra High Performance Additive Manufacturing in Construction. We are looking forward to a successful cooperation with our project partner from material science ibac in the Faculty of Civil Engineering at RWTH Aachen University. Additive manufacturing by layered concrete extrusion is a common approach to the robot-controlled production of complex components. Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) has immense potential for the performance of the process. The use of UHPC in additive manufacturing is currently not possible due to the material properties and the demanding processing. The research is funded by the Excellence Initiative of the German federal and state governments

Digitalization in Construction

The joint research project INKOBAU successfully launched at Liebherr in Biberach

Under the lead of the chair of Individualized Production seven companies and three research institutes work together to improve information networks in construction. With INKOBAU, information networks along the production chains of collaborating companies in construction industry will be investigated and further developed. The consortium tries to create effective solutions to close and bridge information gaps to optimize time, cost and quality efficiency in construction.

Following companies and institutes are participating: LEONHARD WEISS GmbH & Co. KG, Liebherr-Werk Biberach GmbH, KUKA Deutschland GmbH, Robots in Architecture Research UG, Wurst Stahlbau GmbH, Annen GmbH & Co. KG, Lamparter GmbH & Co. KG, Individualisierte Bauproduktion RWTH Aachen, Werkzeugmaschinenlabor WZL der RWTH Aachen, International Performance Research Institute gGmbH

The joint research project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and supervised by the Project Management Agency Karlsruhe (PTKA).
