The Internet of Construction project, funded by the BMBF, investigates the digitalization and networking of construction processes across the value chain, integrating robotic processes and Industry 4.0 technologies, involving a consortium of industry partners, and utilizing the Aachen West reference site as a living lab for real-world testing and evaluation.

The focus of ROBETON is the (semi-) automation of deconstruction processes using the new construction robotics solutions. Instead of developing special (customized) solutions or enabling the application of industrial robots on the construction site, the project pursues remote-controlled demolition machines, building on the applicant's preliminary work.

The Project Construction Planning Oriented Management of Manufacturing in Steel Construction 4.0 (BauFeSt 4.0) deals with data interfaces in steel construction. Possibilities are being searched to capture and save tolerance and process data to push the application of automatised and robot-based manufacturing systems.

The use of 5G in construction has the potential to ease emerging technology such as robotics to automate processes and reduce the workload of personnel. In 5G.NAMICO, the initial on-site installation of the 5G network will be first researched and evaluated based on the selected use cases that deal with the automation of individual work processes and the safety aspect.

The farewell to coal-fired power generation has been decided. Becoming the first climate-neutral region in Europe is a great opportunity. But a large number of employees will lose their jobs in the beginning. It is a matter of creating new prospects for the future, an attractive location for new companies to settle in, and equally appealing living and leisure opportunities. Structural change confronts many people in the affected regions and communities with an uncertain future. During the pilot project, initial research results on digitized construction processes will be presented in the form of interactive workshops with the students and help to shape the new field of digitized construction sites.
