Individualized Production in Architecture

Target-X

Target-X
Accelerate Europe`s digital transformation with 5G / 6G.

KI for BauChain

KI for BauChain
A.I. network for construction sites to optimize the process management on site by monitoring delivered material.

Novel Metrics

Novel Metrics
The DFG Acoustic project is a research initiative aimed at creating novel metrics for characterizing surfaces in terms of sound scattering and beam steering. A database, encompassing the acoustic properties of potential facade geometries, is implemented to serve as a foundation to develop computational procedures of architectural planning. These procedures enable the design of building facades capable of reflecting street noise in preferred directions, thereby potentially reducing the overall noise level in urban environments.

Cloud56

Cloud56
Cloud56: Scalable cloud architecture for 5G/6G RAN and industrial applications.

EConoM

EConoM
EConoM aims to enhance construction quality, safety, cost efficiency, and time management through the integration of AI and 5G technologies, focusing on Construction Progress Monitoring, Logistics, and Autonomous Material Transport on the Aachen Reference Construction Site.

5G.NAMICO

5G.NAMICO
The use of 5G in construction has the potential to ease emerging technology such as robotics to automate processes and reduce the workload of personnel. In 5G.NAMICO, the initial on-site installation of the 5G network will be first researched and evaluated based on the selected use cases that deal with the automation of individual work processes and the safety aspect.

Freiraum

Freiraum
Development of a plattform indipendent, web-based teaching system for the course Prototyping Project of the Construction Robotics master course

BauFest

BauFest
The Project Construction Planning Oriented Management of Manufacturing in Steel Construction 4.0 (BauFeSt 4.0) deals with data interfaces in steel construction. Possibilities are being searched to capture and save tolerance and process data to push the application of automatised and robot-based manufacturing systems.

ROBETON

ROBETON
The focus of ROBETON is the (semi-) automation of deconstruction processes using the new construction robotics solutions. Instead of developing special (customized) solutions or enabling the application of industrial robots on the construction site, the project pursues remote-controlled demolition machines, building on the applicant's preliminary work.

Wire and Arc Additive Manufacturing

Wire and Arc Additive Manufacturing
The Chair for Individualized Production cooperating with Welding and Joining Institute of RWTH Aachen university are developing an adaptive path planning system to overcome this unpredictability. In which, IP optimizes and adapts the robots action and ISF works on the optimization and adaptability in welder properties.

Internet of Construction

 Internet of Construction
The Internet of Construction project, funded by the BMBF, investigates the digitalization and networking of construction processes across the value chain, integrating robotic processes and Industry 4.0 technologies, involving a consortium of industry partners, and utilizing the Aachen West reference site as a living lab for real-world testing and evaluation.

Pilot project on the Reference Construction Site Campus West

Pilot project on the Reference Construction Site Campus West
The farewell to coal-fired power generation has been decided. Becoming the first climate-neutral region in Europe is a great opportunity. But a large number of employees will lose their jobs in the beginning. It is a matter of creating new prospects for the future, an attractive location for new companies to settle in, and equally appealing living and leisure opportunities. Structural change confronts many people in the affected regions and communities with an uncertain future. During the pilot project, initial research results on digitized construction processes will be presented in the form of interactive workshops with the students and help to shape the new field of digitized construction sites.
