Steel construction demonstrator in action at Lamparter

Mobile machine collaboration in steel assembling

During a two-week cooperation, the Chair of Individualized Production and Robots in Architecture Research UG together with our cooperation partner Lamparter tested the use of the flexible mobile robot platforms and enhanced it especially for steel construction. During the twelfth IoC project meeting, this cooperation was presented to the IoC consortium. The steel fabrication demonstrator is based on a flexible plant concept with a mobile interactive robot. The robot assists with assembly, for example by transporting and precisely positioning components. The welder then only has to set the weld seam. Compared with conventional systems, the concept is characterized by the fact that it enables human-machine collaboration and requires no further safety precautions. The welder can thus intervene directly in the robot’s process and adapt it individually. Among other things, this facilitates the otherwise time-consuming scribing and transport of components and reduces workforce.
