ROBETON II
The ROBETON II project builds on a promising approach to resource-efficient and circular construction. In the predecessor project ROBETON, a robot-assisted sawing process was developed that allows existing reinforced concrete walls to be cut into modular components which can subsequently be reinstalled. To make this approach viable in practice, ROBETON II aims to establish the fundamental requirements of analysing the load-bearing capacity, durability, and contamination needed to realize the process.
The goal of ROBETON II is to reuse components that meet the requirements for new construction. To this end, three objectives are pursued: first, the cutting process is to be optimized to produce form-fit joints; second, potential contamination of the components through saw dust, process water, and air or dust samples is to be examined; and third, non-destructive testing methods for the concrete components to be dismantled are to be tested and validated. These investigations are necessary to develop strategies for the practical application of the process and to identify potential approval and reuse opportunities for the components.
