OnTimeOlogie

Within the framework of the research project OnTimeOlogie, semantic technologies and open mobility data are used to improve data interoperability between transportation systems, construction logistics, and infrastructure project management. The project investigates how heterogeneous traffic and mobility datasets can be semantically integrated with construction-related information in order to support data-driven planning, logistics coordination, and infrastructure decision-making processes. To achieve this, an ontology-based framework was developed that links external transportation and mobility information with Just-in-Time (JIT) construction logistics concepts through Semantic Web technologies and linked data principles. The project additionally explores the use of Large Language Model (LLM) embeddings to support ontology scope optimisation, semantic clustering, ontology reuse, and the identification of relevant domain concepts and external datasets. The resulting ontology was implemented using standardised RDF/OWL technologies and publicly released as open semantic infrastructure together with interactive ontology visualisation and technical documentation.

The methodological approach developed within the project was additionally documented in the scientific conference contribution: “Leveraging LLM Embeddings for Ontology Scope Optimisation and Reuse in Construction Transportation Data Integration to Enhance Construction Logistics” presented at the 13th Nordic Conference on Construction Economics and Organisation (CREON 2026).
